And a place! After a lot of consideration of funds and travel expenses, we decided to stay local and started looking for venues in Arizona that were budget friendly, and we found one! My parents and Joe’s dad have graciously stepped up to the plate and offered to cover most of the expenses, but we know they’re not made of money, so small and simple was still the plan. We found a place in north Phoenix that had a really old, cool church for the ceremony and an 1800’s opera house to hold the reception in:
The problem with having it here is well, for three months out of the year I live on the surface of the sun. And the distance between the church and opera house is quite the walk, and I’m 90% sure neither building has A/C unless you count windows as A/C. So a summer wedding was out of the question. We also didn’t want it in the winter because its been getting pretty cold/rainy here during the winter months, and spring is no good because Joe’s dad owns a pool supply and spa store, and spring is when they start gearing up for their busy season, summer.
So fall it is. Fantastic. Most popular time of the year for weddings in AZ. Snow bird relatives are coming into town, its cooling down, and its just before the holidays. Cue a nervous Liz who has to wait to put a deposit down until mom has the funds to cover it, which is still several weeks away. Ack. I’ve been having an ongoing panic attack for the last month, coupled with the fact that I can’t tell anyone because we’re not even sure we can get it for the limited dates we want to have it on. I went through a lot of wine in the past month.
But today we were finally able to get the deposit taken care of and a date/time secured. So at 4pm on October 25th, 2014, I will be marrying my best friend, the love of my life, and my reason for getting up every morning!
